Statistical Highlights

This was an important match for Australia as they had lost the previous one and in order to stay in the competition they needed a win.  New Zealand on the other hand were looking to win to cement their place in the Semi Finals.  Lets now take a closer look at the batting and bowling performance reviews along with the results of the match that took place today (12/06/2013.)

Australia Batting

When Australia came out to bat on 12/06/2013 they looked very nervous.  They lost early wickets but did well towards the mid and end part of the innings.  Their batting performance today was much better as they tackled the bowlers exceptionally well.  The best highlights of their innings were Adam Voges and George Bailey who made a score of 71 and 55 respectively.  Glen Maxwell also batted well as he a useful contribution of 29 Runs towards the end to boost their score to 243.  Looking at the total, the results looked to be in favor of the Aussies.

New Zealand Bowling

The New Zealand bowlers were a bit of a mixed bag today as they bowled well in patches.  Despite picking up early wickets, Adam Voges and George Bailey's partnership in the middle and Glen Maxwell's late onslaught hurt them quite a bit as looking at the amount of runs they gave away they needed to bat well to ensure the results went in their favor.  The best highlights of their bowling was Mitchell McClenaghan who picked up 4 wickets.

Unfortunately, after 15 overs of the black caps batting there was a lot of rain which resulted in the match being abandoned, bad luck for the aussies as i felt they had this in the bag.  The aussies managed to pick up two wickets before the rain played spoil sport.
