Statistical Highlights

CricketWhen Australia came into bat on 14/09/2013, they struggled throughout their innings as batting looked quite tough.  George Bailey however was the best highlights of their batting as he ensured he held one end up before ending at a score of 87, his  partnerships with Adam Voges and Matthew Wade helped the aussies reach a target of 227.  As far as England's bowling was concerned, James Tredwell was the pick of their bowlers as he picked up 3 wickets.  He was supported well by Steven Finn and Boyd Rankin who picked up 2 wickets each.  The results of the match hanged in the balance as the pitch was offering some assistance to the bowlers.

When England came into bat on 14/09/2013, they were jolted by a superb spell by Clint McKay.  McKay's hatrick ensured he kept the Englishmen on the backfoot and at one stage they really struggled at a score of 8/3, However a good partnership between Eoin Morgan and Michael Carberry ensured they remained in the hunt before they were out at a score of 53 and 63 respectively.  Towards the end a superb innings (65 of 48) by Jos Butler ensured they were over the line. As far as Australia's bowling was concerned, McKay picked up 4 wickets but unfortunately that was not good enough for them to pull the results in their favor.
