Statistical Highlights

CricketThe match on 16/09/2013 officially kicked off with the Aussies winning the toss and electing to bat first.  It was a good decision considering the pitch was very good for batting.  As far as their batting was concerned, Shane Watson and Michael Clarke were the best highlights as they made a score of 143 and 75 respectively.  Towards the end of their innings however they lost momentum which resulted in them falling around 20-40 runs short of what they could have actually achieved.  Their score however was somewhat stiff as they ended their innings at a score of 298 all out.  As far as England's bowling was concerned, Ben Stokes picked up 5 wickets and was supported well by Chris Jordon who picked up 3 wickets as well.

When England came into bat on 16/09/2013, they had a horrible start as their opening partnership failed once again.  After Pietersen fell early, a few more batsmen followed quite quickly and at one stage they were at a score of 103/5.  From this stage it looked improbable that the results will go in their favor.  A partnership between Ravi Bopara and Jos Butler gave them some hope as they made a score of 62 and 42 respectively but unfortunately this was not enough for them to win the match.  As far as Australia's bowling was concerned, James Faulkner was the best highlights as he picked up 3 wickets.
