Ashes 2013: Australia Vs England - 3rd Test (13,14,15,16,17 December 2013) - Results, Review and Statistical Highlights

The 3rd Test match of the Ashes 2013 series between Australia and England between 13th to 17th december 2013 kicked off with Australia winning the toss and electing to bat first.  This was a must win game for the Englishmen if they needed to have any hope of saving the series.  To know about what went down during the course of the match, Read on for the complete Results, Review and Statistical Highlights below.

Statistical Highlights

CricketSteven Smith was the star of the Aussie batting during their first innings as he scored an impressive century to help them reach a score of 385.  There were useful contributions by David Warner and Brad Haddin as well who made half centuries.  As far as England's bowling was concerned, Stuart Broad picked up 3 wickets while James Anderson and Graeme Swann picked up 2 wickets each.

England's first innings kicked off with a useful knock by their captain Alastair Cook who made an impressive 72 but apart from him no one in the team was able to make a useful contribution which resulted int hem being bundled out for 251.  As far as Australia's bowling was concerned, Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle picked up 3 wickets each.

Australia were in a lead before they started their second innings.  An impressive century by David Warner and Shane Watson helped them reach a target of 369/6 before they declared which meant England needed to score 504 to win the match which looked improbable.  As far as England's bowling was concerned, Tim Bresnan and Ben Stokes picked up 2 wickets.

During their second innings, England were under massive pressure.  Ben Stokes brilliant Century and Ian Bell's half century were not good enough for them to save/win the match for the team.  As far as Australia's bowling was concerned, Mitchell Johnson picked up 4 wickets.
